WoW: Overcoming Barriers to Innovation on Small and Medium Farms

Join us online on November 19, 2025 for the WoW workshop “ISS in Action: Overcoming Barriers to Innovation on Small and Medium Farms,” hosted by ATTRACTISS in collaboration with "Network to Innovate" initiative. This webinar is your chance to connect with peers across Europe, exchange experiences, and discover strategies to stay innovative, strengthen collaboration, support peer learning, and foster a solution-oriented mindset. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn from real-life examples and join the discussion!

Innovation is key to building resilient and sustainable small and medium-sized farms, yet many farmers face challenges such as limited resources, funding uncertainty, and a lack of supportive networks. This webinar will share four real-life examples and practical insights from across Europe, showing how these barriers can be addressed in meaningful and achievable ways.

The 1st part of the event will feature inspiring presentations on real-life approaches and solutions that help small and medium-sized farms overcome barriers to innovation.

Following the presentations, we'll dive into a discussion round where participants can leave their questions to the speakers.

To facilitate communication, we are using the Padlet dashboard, allowing you to share inspiring solutions, express interest in cooperation, or raise questions related to the workshop's topic.

We will begin with a personal story from Arta Zikmane, a Latvian farmer, on overcoming barriers and finding a path to success with a newly established farm.

This will be followed by insights from Petri Linna, a member of the Finnish Smart Farming Thematic Group, who will discuss how to keep collaboration alive beyond project lifecycles.

Jane Mättik from the Estonian Beef Breeders Association will showcase how advisors and farmers can be supported in exploring new technologies in practice.

Finally, Peter Paree, a Dutch advisor, will share his perspective on how farmers continue to innovate even without confirmed external funding.
