METK's activities include:
- scientific activities related to plant breeding and agricultural research,
- laboratory and experimental activities, and network activities in the field of agriculture and rural life,
- together with training, advisory, and innovation services.
METK's laboratories and the Viljandi test center are part of the national control system.
The management of METK consists of four members:
director Andre Veskioja and 3 deputy directors: Marko Kass, Pille Koorberg and Andrus Rahnu.
