Network to Innovate: AKIS in the Nordic-Baltic space
The online workshop, "AKIS in the Nordic-Baltic space” will take place on May 06th, 2025. It is organized by the Rural Networks of Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Poland and Sweden. This workshop is a great opportunity to connect with others in the field, share knowledge, and potentially create new partnerships.
One of the key requirements to bring about innovation in agriculture is ensuring that the right stakeholders communicate efficiently. Such exchanges are critical to the Agricultural Knowledge and Information Systems (AKIS) that are being refined in many member states of the EU. The aim of the webinar is to highlight a number of examples of how AKIS is being organized within the Nordic-Baltic region.
All interested participants are welcome to join!
The 1st part of the event will feature presentations of AKIS examples.
Following the presentations, we'll dive into a discussion round where participants can leave their questions to the speakers.
To facilitate communication, we are using the Padlet dashboard, allowing you to share inspiring solutions, express interest in cooperation, or raise questions related to the workshop's theme.

- Developing AKIS in Sweden – four knowledge hubs.
Speaker: Ms. Stephanie Kindbom, Swedish Board of Agriculture, Sweden. The Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System is being grown in Sweden. The four knowledge hubs are an example of work in progress.
- Generation Renewal Program for Agricultural Advisors.
Speaker – Ms. Eve Külmallik, The Centre of Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge (METK). Training the next generation of advisors is an essential component of lifelong learning and the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS), ensuring the ongoing quality of advisory services and fostering sector renewal.
- The knowledge centre on green transition in Northen and Eastern Kainuu.
Speaker: Mr. Samuli Rinne, municipality of Hyrynsalmi, Finland. This centre of excellence in northern Finland is a thematic AKIS cluster that looks to strengthen the green transition.
- Demonstration projects for farmers.
Speaker: Ms. Justyna Fila, Agricultural Advisory Centre (CDR), Radom branch office, Poland. Peer-to-peer learning is one of the best ways to spread innovative farming practices. This example shows how farm demonstrations can be used to support knowledge transfer.
